How We Run Our Markets — With Traders at the Heart

At Little Owl Artisan, our markets are about more than filling spaces or chasing numbers. They are about people — the traders who show up week after week, the customers who support them, and the communities that grow around them.

For a number of years, I’ve worked closely with traders, venues, and local partners to create markets that are welcoming, fair, and sustainable. Much of that work happens quietly behind the scenes, but it’s built on experience, consistency, and care.

Putting traders first — always

Our priority has always been to put traders at the heart of what we do, whether they’ve been trading with us for years or are just starting out.

We believe markets work best when they are:

  • clearly communicated
  • realistically planned
  • fair and transparent
  • focused on long‑term sustainability rather than quick wins

We don’t believe in pressure selling pitches or overselling what a market can deliver. Traders are always free to choose what works best for them, and we respect that.

How we operate

Running markets — especially outdoor markets — requires experience, adaptability, and honest communication.

We plan our events carefully, taking into account seasonality, footfall, weather, and trader wellbeing. Outdoor trading naturally comes with variables, and we approach those with practical planning rather than unrealistic promises.

When conditions are challenging, we communicate clearly and act fairly. Our aim is always to support traders, not to place unnecessary pressure on them.

Community over comparison

We don’t believe markets need to compete through fear or comparison. Every market has its own character, and traders will naturally gravitate to what suits them best.

Our focus is on creating markets that feel supportive, well run, and grounded — places where traders feel comfortable returning and building relationships with customers over time.

Bigger isn’t always better, but consistency, care, and trust always matter.

Looking ahead

As Little Owl Artisan continues to move forward, our focus remains on building sustainable markets that benefit traders and local communities alike.

If you’re a trader looking for markets run with honesty and care, or a venue or partner interested in working collaboratively, we’re always happy to have a conversation.
